Big Changes for Deployed US Army Soldiers
There’s some big news in the Army world. The Army Sustainment Command just announced that deployed soldiers will no longer have the option to store their belongings for free. This is a pretty significant change that will affect a lot of people.
The decision to discontinue this service was made in October, but it wasn’t widely publicized until now. Some soldiers and press were caught off guard by the announcement, as it wasn’t communicated effectively.
However, there is hope on the horizon. The HQDA G-1 is working on drafting a new policy that could potentially enable storage for deployed soldiers in the future. This is great news for the soldiers who have been affected by this change.
It’s unclear at this point when this new policy will be put in place, but it’s good to know that there are efforts being made to rectify the situation.
This change was driven by a recent determination that the Army is not obligated to provide storage for deployed soldiers. As a result, soldiers have been given the option to store their vehicles in motor pools, even though these are not normally used for this purpose.
