The 2023 Soul Train Awards transformed the typical award show format into an “emotional houseparty” in the Hollywood Hills. Despite the chilly weather, BET powered through and created a unique and memorable event.
Inside, Keke Palmer did an excellent job hosting the affair, with multiple outfit changes and a performance of her own. Dressed in a white lace mini dress and floor-length robe, the doting mom delivered a live performance of “Ungorgeous” from her latest album, Boss (Deluxe).
The only award revealed on-air was Coco Jones’ win for Best New Artist, and the new Grammy nominee wowed the audience with two live performances that night. SZA, Victoria Monét, and Usher also took home multiple wins in various categories.
Highlights of the night included Janelle Monáe’s captivating performance and T-Pain’s hit-filled closing act. Exclusive interviews and top performances from the likes of Muni Long, Fridayy, and the Soul Cypher participants were also featured.
