The Warning from Jimmy Kimmel: Brace Yourself for Another 4 Years of Annoying Books About Trump if He Gets Reelected

December 6, 2023 @ 5:30 AM

Hosting the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show on Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel made an interesting observation about Liz Cheney’s new book.

The host pointed out that Cheney’s book, “Oath and Honor,” described as “a narrative and a caution,” may lead to another wave of disappointing books if Trump remains in power. Kimmel humorously noted that “The caution is that another 4 years of Trump will cause another 4 years of frustrating books about Trump.”

Cheney’s book, released on Tuesday, covers her personal experiences before and after Trump’s attempt to overturn the federal government on Jan. 6, 2021. Kimmel commented, “And, Kimmel observed, “normally the only ladies who dislike him this much were wed to him.”

The host also mentioned that “Oath and Honor” is now the top bestseller on Amazon, narrowly surpassing the # 2 bestseller — Snoop Dogg’s cookbook from 2018. Kimmel found this fact astonishing, saying, “How is that possible? The busiest shopping week of the year, a five-year-old book about tater kids is second? How stoned are these individuals?”

Kimmel then drew attention to how Liz Cheney criticized some of her fellow Republicans, including the new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, for his involvement in propagating Trump’s claims that the election was rigged.

Kimmel concluded by jokingly commenting on Johnson’s recent controversial actions, including his release of heavily edited videos showing the Jan. 6 attacks, and commenting on the lack of transparency when faces of the attackers were obscured while claiming to be transparent. He also highlighted Johnson’s admission that he is protecting them from legal scrutiny, scrutinizing his justifications. At the end of the monologue Kimmel jokingly said, “The last thing we wish to do is send out the message that Americans can’t attempt to topple their government any longer. We need to protect them from the police we work so hard to pretend to support.”
