When Tesla first unveiled its Cybertruck in 2019, many people were excited. However, a recent survey suggests that potential buyers are not so keen on the vehicle. The survey found that 67% of regular buyers would not consider purchasing a Cybertruck, most citing the vehicle’s appearance and high cost as their main reasons for turning it down.

There were high hopes for the Cybertruck when it was introduced at a starting price of just $49,000, but now, potential buyers are dismayed to find out that the actual starting price is $60,990, with the top-tier tri-motor version costing as much as $99,990. This significant increase has caused a lot of debate online, with some accusing Tesla of using the vehicle’s price to regulate demand.

Despite the negative response, many analysts believe that the public’s reaction might not be as polarized as it seems. Additionally, even loyal fans in the r/Cybertruck subreddit are having reservations about the vehicle, with 56% of users expressing their intention to cancel their reservations.

It’s clear that the Cybertruck’s pricing and discrepancies between the expected and actual costs are discouraging buyers. However, this might be part of Tesla’s plan to slow down demand as there are currently over 2 million reservations in line, and the company is only capable of producing up to 200,000 trucks annually.

It seems that the Cybertruck is not finding the widespread appeal that Tesla had hoped for. With the car’s future sales uncertain, it remains to be seen what direction Tesla will take with the Cybertruck.
