Did you know that human tears contain a chemical signal that reduces brain activity linked to aggression? A new study published on Thursday by the Weizmann Institute of Science in the US science journal PLOS Biology shows that female tears have a fascinating effect on reducing aggression.
The study involved 25 male volunteers who were exposed to “emotional” tears or saline to find out the effects of tears on aggression. Interestingly, the tears were obtained from female volunteers who had watched sad films in isolation. The results showed that the male volunteers exhibited 43.7 percent less aggressive behavior after sniffing the tears.
