Undeniably, one of the biggest highlights of this year’s Game Awards reveal was Sega’s announcement that it would be reimagining five classic IP titles including Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage.

If you missed it, there is clearly even more to come based on the official trailer. Additionally, the press release for this announcement notes that the “upcoming projects, spanning a variety of genres are currently in various stages of development” with plans to release them “over the next several years”.

Sega co-chief operating officer & Sega of America CEO Shuji Utsumi added:

Shuji Utsumi: “We are delving into our legacy and reimagining several franchises to bring these games to more audiences around the world. Today’s announcement is just the start of our effort. Our aspiration will be to create great games with fantastic characters and worlds. We hope fans of all ages will look toward our future with anticipation as we launch these projects in the coming years.”

Sega has also noted that more details about the currently announced games, including the “official game titles” for each one, along with release dates and platforms will be “shared in the future”. Additionally, it has been hinted that another series that could make a return beyond the initial five announced is Virtua Fighter. Keep an eye out for more on this in a story by Time Extension
