Just in time for the holidays, a leaked image of the new Galaxy S24 Ultra reveals its advanced quad-cam module. Boasting a powerful 200-megapixel main camera and a new 50-megapixel telephoto shooter, this new model is generating plenty of excitement. There are already comparisons being drawn to other flagship phones like the Vivo X100 Pro due to the innovative features of this phone’s camera hardware.

An image that apparently comes from the mass production lines of the Galaxy S24 Ultra provides us with the first unobstructed view of the slightly adapted camera module, which differs from that of the Galaxy S23 Ultra (available here on Amazon). The differences in the camera module of the Galaxy S24 Ultra compared to the S23 Ultra are striking. The periscope module has been slimmed down and significantly changed in shape. Instead of the minimal 10-megapixel 1/3.52 inch sensor with a huge mirror module for 10x optical magnification featured in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung has now opted for a significantly larger 50-megapixel sensor with 5x magnification. It is rumored to be a 1/2.5 inch sensor with 0.7 um pixel size, marking a significant leap forward in camera technology.

The shape of the new camera module, as well as its specs, show similarities to the periscope cameras found in Chinese smartphone flagships such as the Vivo X100 Pro. The rectangular periscope lens format incorporated in the new round lens marks another significant departure from previous models. Notably, there was no mention of a telemacro function in the leaked marketing materials, so there is still much to learn about how this new device will stand out among its competitors.
