TGD Cuts LLC made the decision to recall some of its fresh-cut fruit cup, clamshell, and tray items, as they may contain cantaloupe from TruFresh, which has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

This recall is in response to the expanded recall of fresh cantaloupes by TruFresh on Nov. 28. The cantaloupes recalled by TruFresh were used as an ingredient in TGD Cuts, LLC fruit cup, clamshell, and tray items with use-by dates between Nov. 2 and Nov. 24. The products were distributed in Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Despite being past their use-by dates, there is concern that some consumers may have frozen these products for future use. Given this possibility, customers should check to see if they have any of the recalled cantaloupe items at home. For those with unidentified cantaloupe products, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention advise disposal of the products.

This recall is part of an ongoing Salmonella outbreak that has affected 34 states, resulting in 117 illnesses and 2 deaths in the U.S. Additionally, corresponding outbreaks in Canada have contributed to 63 confirmed illnesses and one death.

It’s important to note that there have been no reported illnesses directly linked to the TGD Cuts LLC fruit cup, clamshell, and tray items at this time.

The company is urging consumers with any uncertainty about owning recalled cantaloupe to refrain from consuming the product and to dispose of it immediately. It’s considered unlikely that the products are still available in the market.
