Police Continue Hunt for Suspects in Racial Attack on Amazon Delivery Driver

An Amazon delivery driver became an internet sensation after two Caucasian women at a Texas apartment complex accused her of being a “thief” while she was on the job. Now, the driver is opening up about her side of the story.

JaMaiya Miller, a Black woman and Amazon employee, tried to deliver packages to residents at the Belle Meade at River Oaks in Houston on Dec. 16.

One of the packages required Miller to leave the box outside the apartment on the second floor, so she needed access to the building to make the delivery. A woman, presumably a neighbor, opened the building door for her to go inside.

But things took a turn when the unidentified person panicked and called for help as soon as Miller tried to go to the second floor.

Things escalated when a second woman, an elderly white woman, physically assaulted the driver and used racial slurs, claiming, “We’ve had thieves here, and you’re a thief!”

Despite being attacked, Miller remained composed and repeatedly asked the women not to touch her.

Following the incident, Miller shared the video on her TikTok, which has garnered nearly 800,000 views as of Dec. 30.

“She even threw me up against a residents door, and eventually ripped the package I’m attempting to deliver out of my hand, all unprompted,” Miller wrote in the post.

Although the investigation is ongoing, Miller updated her followers on Dec. 28 that the police have yet to identify the woman who attacked her, despite filing a police report on the night of the incident. She also expressed frustration that it took investigators ten days to reach out to her after the assault.
