Oil Rig Count Slightly Decreases as WTI Rebounds to $70

Wow! Some great news on oil drilling today in the United States, with an increase of 1 active rig, according to data from Baker Hughes!

Today’s rig count stands at 626, with 158 less rigs active than at this time in 2015, and a staggering 449 less than at the start of 2019, before the pandemic struck.

The oil rig count fell by 2 to 503, and the gas rig count rose by 3 to 119. The Permian Basin saw a decrease in rigs, but the Eagle Ford saw an upswing.

In addition, the frac spread count is also slightly up compared to the start of the year, and oil prices were trading up Friday.
