NASCAR Clears Driver Cody Ware for Racing After Charges Dropped

Following a challenging year, NASCAR reinstates Cody Ware after charges are dropped

Cody Ware, the 28-year-old driver with nearly 100 starts in the Cup Series, has been reinstated by NASCAR after felony assault and misdemeanor charges were dropped by the Iredell County district attorney’s office.

Ware expressed his relief, saying, “I’ve maintained my innocence from the very beginning, even as there was a rush to judgment by others. I’m glad this entire matter is behind me because it’s been an incredibly difficult eight months. With all of the allegations being dismissed, I’m thankful to have my life back.”

He has driven for his father’s team, Rick Ware Racing, since his debut in 2017 and was also part of the championship-winning team in the Asian Le Mans Series during the 2019-2020 season.

Ware’s return to racing marks the end of a period during which Rick Ware Racing used various drivers in the No. 51 Ford Mustang, and the team has yet to announce a driver for its second full-time entry in 2024.
