Calling for Change: NADDC Urges Inclusion of ‘Components Parts Manufacturer Of The Year’ Award in Future NAJA Awards

Last week, the 2023 Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) awards brought together over 29 individuals and companies who have made significant contributions to the auto industry. Among the distinguished guests was the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr. Joseph Osanipin.
During the event, Osanipin commended NAJA for its dedication to promoting the local auto industry and challenged the Nigerian Automotive Industry to prioritize automotive components development and integration in assembly operations.
“Let’s celebrate today, but also let’s challenge ourselves to shape the future of the Nigeria Automotive industry. It’s up to us to determine the direction of the automotive sector in Nigeria,” Osanipin stated.

He also urged NAJA organizers to introduce an award category for ‘Components Parts Manufacturer of the year’ in future projects, emphasizing the importance of developing local components for industry growth.
“Components are essential for the whole. We need to start thinking about developing components to enhance local content. By encouraging and uplifting smaller manufacturers, we can achieve our goals,” Osanipin added.
