Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was on fire this week, earning himself the title of Western Conference player of the week. He single-handedly led a struggling Memphis team to its first three-game winning streak this season.
Morant’s season debut was a show-stopping performance against the New Orleans Pelicans, where he came back from a 25-game suspension and scored an incredible 34 points, including a game-winning shot at the buzzer. He didn’t stop there, following up with 20 points and 8 assists against the Indiana Pacers, and then exploding for 30 points and 11 assists against Atlanta on Saturday.
Across these three games, he’s been averaging an impressive 28.0 points, 9.0 assists, and 5.7 rebounds.
Following his suspension for brandishing a firearm in an Instagram Live video in May, Morant’s absence had a significant impact on the Grizzlies’ season, as they struggled with a 6-19 record before his return.
But now, with a three-game win streak since Morant’s comeback, the Grizzlies are back in the game and within striking distance of the play-in tournament.
At just 24 years old, Morant has already racked up three player of the week awards in his career.
