A heartwarming tale of survival
A four-month-old baby is bouncing back from his injuries after a tornado tore through his family home in Tennessee. The child, named Lord, was peacefully sleeping in his bassinet when the violent tornado ripped the roof off their mobile home. His mother, Sydney Moore, recounted to WSMV-TV how the winds lifted the baby’s bassinet into the air as his father grabbed it. According to Moore, her partner, Aramis Youngblood, remembers the terrifying experience of spinning inside the twister while holding onto the bassinet before they were thrown.
The first thing to go up was Lord, Sydney said. It took about 10 frantic minutes for the couple to find him, and despite thinking he was dead, the infant miraculously survived. Lord was found lying inside a fallen tree as the rain fell on the family. Moore believes he is “here” by the “grace of God.”
Social media was quick to react to the miraculous survival of the baby after the tornado. After The Shade Room shared the miraculous story on Instagram, followers chimed in with kind words and prayers for the family. Within 24 hours, the repost amassed nearly half a million likes and more than 16,000 comments.
Folks had plenty to say, with one user writing, “They named the baby ‘Lord’ for a reason. And the ‘Lord’ was with him…amen?” Another commented, “The fact that the babies’ name is Lord gives me chills. And placed in a tree after being thrown? Wow, Amen.”
As the story gained traction, it was revealed that the couple’s one-year-old son, Princeton, was also caught in the terrifying tornado. When the twister first approached their home, Sydney and her toddler were in the trailer’s backroom. After seeing the strong winds outside, she instinctively covered her toddler with her body — likely saving his life.
After a harrowing experience, the family is counting their blessings and praying for those who did not make it through Saturday’s twister. Six people died as a result, including a 2-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy from separate households, according to CBS News.
