Exciting News Alert: Mercedes-Benz Approved to Start Level 3 Highly Automated Driving Test in Beijing, China!
Revving up the future, the German luxury car company has been conducting proving ground tests of Level 3 systems for years in China.
And the big news is that its DRIVE PILOT (Level 3) has been available in Germany since May 2022 in the S-Class and the EQS sedan.
Now, they’ve received approval from the Chinese authorities to begin conditionally automated driving (Level 3) system testing on designated highways in Beijing.
They’re committed to working with relevant authorities to develop Level 3 systems for China and provide safe and reliable automated driving experiences for Chinese customers.
Speaking of the DRIVE PILOT technology, Mercedes said :
“The advantages for the customer are clear : during conditionally automated driving, the activated DRIVE PILOT allows the driver to take their mind off the traffic and focus on certain secondary activities, be it communicating with others via In-Car Office, browsing the web or relaxing while watching a movie.
