More Details Regarding The Singer & Bryan Tanaka’s Reported Split

Rumors have been swirling after Page Six reported on Wednesday, December 20, that Carey and Tanaka have decided to part ways over a disagreement.

An unnamed source reportedly told the outlet, “He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at. He wants to start having his own life.”

Facts to consider: Carey is 54 and has twins, Monroe and Moroccan, while Tanaka is 40 and does not have any kids.

The speculation of the couple’s separation began earlier this week when Carey vacationed in Aspen, Colorado, without Tanaka. Moreover, Tanaka hasn’t been seen on Carey’s “Merry Christmas One And All” tour, which began in November. Currently, neither Tanaka nor Carey has publicly confirmed or denied the reports of their split. In addition, Tanaka’s official Instagram account features photos of him and Mariah, with the latest one posted on their anniversary in March.

However, the last time Carey shared a photo with Tanaka on her official Instagram account was in December 2022.

PEOPLE says that reps for the singer have refused to comment on the matter.

A Brief Recap Of Their Romance

According to PEOPLE, Tanaka began working as a choreographer and backup dancer for Mariah Carey in 2006. The pair started dating in 2016, broke up in 2017, and then quickly got back together.

Tanaka said in a 2016 interview with E! News, “We’ve been friends for a long time… Something connected with us back in the day, and there was just a mutual admiration… She saw something in me that I actually didn’t recognize at first, from that it was over. It was set in history that we were gonna be connected some way, somehow.”

In December 2017, Carey posted footage of her and Tanaka in Aspen, Colorado.

The former couple has been seen vacationing in Aspen in 2019 and 2021, as well as spending Christmas together in 2022.
