Discovering I was HIV positive was life-changing. The conversation with my doctor is etched in my memory. He diagnosed me with AIDS and gave me only 3 months to live. That was in 1999.
Fast forward to today, and I’m thriving at 54. When I began treatment in 2000, my journey to health began. My weight has fluctuated, and I’m now at 230 pounds.
Weight gain has been a constant battle, mainly in my stomach area. It’s been challenging to find clothes that fit and look good.
My doctor has advised me to change my eating habits and exercise more. But with other health conditions at play, my weight poses extra risks.
Fad diets haven’t worked for me. However, I’m making progress with small changes to my diet and consistent exercise.
My journey continues, and I remain hopeful about the path to a healthier, more comfortable life.
