It’s no secret that the Hispanic population in the US is experiencing continuous growth. Brands are actively seeking to capture their purchasing power, especially during the holiday season, when Latinos tend to expand their spending list by accommodating everything for their home.

Major chains like Target and Walmart have long been closely following the consumer behavior patterns of Hispanics. Amazon is also following in their footsteps, considering this demographic an essential niche of buyers. These three companies are betting on streaming services, including Canela Media, sponsoring a special lineup created to keep Hispanic families in front of their televisions.

We interviewed Oswald Méndez, CMO of Canela Media, who discussed the holiday productions and how the supporting brands are gearing up for 2024.

Canela is developing important holiday programming. What has been the focus in order to engage Latino viewers at year’s end?

Our holiday content strategy is focused on creating curated collections for the entire family to celebrate the season. These collections are sure to delight our viewers. They include new and classic holiday movies, kids’ content, new musical originals, a faith-based collection, and beyond the holiday festivities, we will also review the best of the year with our daily entertainment, news, and sports program. It’s a celebration of Latino culture that resonates with our audience in a genuine and authentic way.

Canela.TV is bringing back our anthology series, “Amor en Navidad,” for a second season with four new holiday movies. The lineup features some of the biggest stars in Spanish media, including Carlos Ponce, Fabiola Campomanes, Marjorie de Sous, Gonzalo García-Vivanco, África Zavala, Rodrigo Guirao, and Cecilia Galliano.

Canela Music will ignite the holiday spirit with selected playlists that families can sing and enjoy in the collections “Is the Holiday Karaoke Ready?” and “Some December Corridos.” Additionally, our audience can celebrate with an exclusive original holiday special by Canela Music featuring performances in “Regional Wonderland.”

Within the Canela.TV app, Canela Kids offers content specifically tailored for children during the holiday season through “Celebrate the Holidays” programming. This includes timeless holiday stories through original “Christmas Tales” such as “Hi, I’m Rudolph!”, “Here Comes Santa!”, “The Three Wise Men,” and much more. Children can also join Franklin and his family as they embark on a journey to the North Pole and South Pole with a polar bear as the host in “Franklin and Friends: Polar Explorer.”
