Shipping firm Maersk is preparing to allow vessels to resume sailing through the Red Sea, following a major disruption in the area caused by attacks from Houthi rebels in Yemen. A U.S.-led multinational naval operation, Operation Prosperity Guardian, has been set up to protect maritime commerce in the Red Sea-Gulf of Aden and to allow the use of the Suez Canal as a gateway between Asia and Europe. This is welcome news for the shipping industry and may soon lead to a return to normalcy in trade routes between Europe and Asia.Â
