Legendary ‘Mr. Big Stuff’ Singer Jean Knight Passes Away at 80

Jean Knight, the iconic singer best known for her hit ‘Mr. Big Stuff,’ has died, according to reports.

An unattributed news release claiming to be the soul vocalist and New Orleans local’s obituary is making the rounds online– and if it’s to be thought … it states JK died last Wednesday, although the situations surrounding her death are uncertain in the meantime.

During her 80 years, Knight created a considerable contribution to music and popular culture with her 1971 hit. ‘Mr. Big Stuff’ soared on the charts, spending 5 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Soul Singles chart and reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track went on to be featured in numerous movies and television shows, including ‘Family Guy,’ ‘black-ish,’ ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,’ ‘Everwood,’ and ‘The Deuce.’ In addition, it received multiple remixes and samples by notable acts such as Heavy D & The Boyz, Eazy-E, TLC, Queen Latifah, and John Legend.

Knight recorded many other songs throughout her career, but ‘Mr. Big Stuff’ remained her greatest success. She leaves behind a legacy of music that will be remembered for years to come.
