The Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area transport authority (LAMATA) Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, on Saturday, inspected the last of five overpass bridges on the highly anticipated LRMT Red Line.
Excitingly, all the necessary infrastructure has been completed, with only asphalt works remaining, which she expects to wrap up in just 10 days.
The four overpass bridges that have already been commissioned, such as the Yaba and Ikeja flyovers, are specifically designed to minimize the interaction between trains and vehicles.
We’re all looking forward to the grand commissioning of the Red Line within the first quarter of 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Once operational, the Red Line Rail is projected to accommodate a staggering 500,000 passengers on a daily basis.
The Red Line’s phase 1 includes stations at Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and Oyingbo, covering a total distance of 27 kilometers from Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo, Lagos.
