Israel Frees 11 More Hostages from Hamas Captivity

Exciting news out of Israel as 11 captives are released from Hamas captivity in the Gaza Strip just as the four-day truce between the warring sides was coming to an end on Monday. But the truce is extending for another 2 days as Israel and Hamas have agreed, according to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry.

This latest release brings the total of Israelis released under the truce to 50, along with 19 captives of other nationalities. Meanwhile, there have been 117 Palestinians released from Israeli jails so far. Significant developments on both sides of this conflict.

In all the mediation happening, increased deliveries of fuel and supplies into Gaza have come with the truce–a welcome relief, even though it’s not nearly enough. More than 13,300 Palestinians have been killed since the war began, about two thirds of them women and minors, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. And 1,200 people have died in Israel, mostly in Hamas’ initial attack. Let’s hope the truce holds and progress continues.
