Second baseman Brendan Rodgers left quite the impression on the Rockies and their fans during the 2023 season, leaving an indelible mark that will make it tough for the team to consider trading him.

Rodgers overcame adversity after a left shoulder injury delayed his season debut until July 31. Despite the slow start, Rodgers found his rhythm and concluded the season with a bang, hitting all four of his homers in the last 11 games and finishing with an impressive slash line of .348/.392/.580 in his final 17 games.

“I missed 80 percent of the year, which is tough, so it’s important for me to get these at-bats at the end of the year,” Rodgers said. “It’s important for me just to try to find that rhythm and kind of do what I’ve been doing and try to carry that over in the next year and into the work in the offseason.”

As the Winter Meetings approach, the possibility of trading Rodgers for pitching is a hot topic of conversation. However, the team recognizes the value that Rodgers brings and the potential for a year of consistency and health from the talented 27-year-old.

Throughout his career with the Rockies, Rodgers has shown glimpses of his true potential. Despite facing various injuries, his abilities as an all-around player are unquestionable. The Rockies are eager to see what Rodgers will achieve in the upcoming seasons as he continues to grow and develop.
