It seems Dell is finally ready to replace the U4021QW, the 40-inch curved display it unveiled at CES 2021. The new UltraSharp 40 is said to output at 5K like its predecessor, Dell has made several upgrades to its large professional monitor in various areas.

It appears that Dell will market the U4021QW replacement as the ‘UltraSharp 40 Hub Monitor’, although Windows Report also refers to the screen as the ‘UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor’. Regardless, the new UltraSharp screen maintains its predecessor’s 5K resolution, at 5,210 x 2,160 pixels. It remains to be seen whether Dell has improved upon the 60 Hz refresh rate and 5 ms GtG response times that it achieved with its predecessor.

Moreover, it seems that Dell has added some ports between generations, with a three-port USB hub visible in the sole image that Windows Report has shared so far. The 40-inch display will come with TÜV Rheinland 5-star Eye Comfort, an accreditation that Dell showcased earlier this month with the UltraSharp U2724D and UltraSharp U2724DE. Please see the excerpt below for TÜV Rheinland’s description about its new eye comfort accreditation. The new UltraSharp 40 may be ready before CES 2024; Windows Report has not provided a full release date yet.

The ‘Eye Comfort’ accreditation process examines 3 technical dimensions (image quality, ambient light management, eye care technology) and 15 different test categories that have shown to have a significant impact on eye comfort. Features like excellent image quality, high refresh rate and good ambient light management, such as smart brightness and CCT adjustment to ambient light, help reduce visual fatigue … Only if a monitor achieves a 5-star rating in all 15 categories will the overall result also be a 5-star rating … For example, a 5 Star ‘Eye Comfort’ Certified monitor has a high refresh rate (≥ 120 Hz) and high color accuracy. It also has hardware to reduce blue light and flicker, as well as brightness and color temperature control for ambient lighting. These features enhance health care and reduce visual fatigue.
