At just 27 years old, Italian driver Loris Spinelli is set to join Lamborghini’s GT3 team, alongside other talented drivers such as Sandy Mitchell, Marco Mapelli, Franck Perera, Leonardo Pulcini, and Jordan Pepper.
Spinelli, who raced a Lamborghini Huracan EVO2 last year in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with Forte Racing’s US RaceTronics squad, is thrilled about his new opportunity with Lamborghini.
In his own words, “This is a dream come true, for sure. It’s been a big goal for me since 2015 to achieve this result, I am really proud to be part of Lamborghini Squadra Corse.”
After an impressive racing career that started with dominating karting and then moving into car racing, Spinelli will now be joining Lamborghini as a factory driver for the upcoming season.
In addition to his success in both the European and North American Super Trofeo seasons, Spinelli won the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Pro championship in 2017 and has accumulated multiple victories and class titles in the European and North American categories.
His recent win at Petit Le Mans last year, alongside regular team-mate Misha Goikhberg and Patrick Liddy, was a personal highlight where he secured GTD pole position and also won the race.
With his remarkable achievements, Spinelli is excited to continue in IMSA’s premier series with Forte Racing, where he will be working closely with factory drivers to further develop his skills and accelerate his career.
Lamborghini’s head of motorsport, Giorgio Sanna, is equally enthusiastic about Spinelli’s promotion to factory driver status, commending his speed and experience which have validated the young driver’s program within Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
