Gilbert Burns had a front-row seat to the drama at UFC 296 with Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis.
The viral clip of Strickland and du Plessis brawling at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has been seen by everyone. The chaos began with Strickland calmly asking people, including Burns’ family, to move aside so he could reach his UFC 297 main event opponent.
Burns’ wife Bruna confirmed that her family was unharmed after the incident. But Gilbert shared even more details on the JAXXON podcast, including Strickland giving him a heads up before the chaos erupted.
“When Sean came in, he looked at me and said, ‘Now.’ He warned me in advance, and then it all went down,” Burns revealed.
The chaotic scene was captured from multiple angles and spread rapidly on social media, even prompting the UFC to release its own footage. Strickland will defend his middleweight title against Du Plessis at UFC 297 in Toronto.
The upcoming fight is sure to be more eventful than the UFC 296 altercation, which Burns described as lacking in significant action.
“He asked my son and wife to move, pushed their seats, and they got into a brief scuffle. Luckily, no one was hurt,” Burns recounted.
