It was a phenomenal weekend for Florida Atlantic and Texas A&M in college basketball
Florida Atlantic claimed victory in the ESPN Events Invitational with a massive 84-50 win against Virginia Tech, while Texas A&M rebounded from a loss to FAU with a shorthanded 73-69 win over Iowa State. As a result, FAU and Texas A&M have secured the No. 13 and No. 14 spots in Monday morning’s updated CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings. Despite their victory, Purdue remains in the No. 1 spot for the sixth consecutive day.
The game between Texas A&M and Iowa State was simply sensational. Texas A&M overcame the absence of two of their top three scorers due to injuries to mount an incredible comeback from a 21-point deficit to secure a 73-69 victory over Iowa State. Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams was full of praise for his team, stating that they played unselfishly and with incredible determination.
After losing to FAU, Texas A&M managed to clinch third place in the ESPN Events Invitational. Meanwhile, FAU crushed Virginia Tech with a dominant 34-point victory to claim the title. Coach Dusty May praised his players for their discipline and dedication to the game, noting that they are a joy to coach and watch in action.
FAU has now locked in four consecutive wins since their shocking loss to Bryant, setting them up for a thrilling matchup against Liberty. Additionally, if FAU secures a win against Liberty, it will mark their fourth top-70 victory this season, just four weeks into their campaign.
