For the record, the⁢ pricing Tesla ‌revealed‌ today⁤ is indeed not quite what many early⁣ reservation holders were hoping for. ‍The $60,990 rear wheel ⁢drive version sure sounds a lot like the $39,000⁤ base model Musk ⁣promised ‍back in 2019.

Musk was eager to stress three big things⁣ about the Cybertruck: it’s tough, ‍it’s not all for show, and it’s fast. He also made the ‌obvious point that nothing out there today looks like the Cybertruck.

The rear-wheel drive Cybertruck will be “available” in 2025, according‌ to Tesla’s website. It’s 2024 for delivery of the four-wheel ‍drive and the ‍Cyberbeast. Musk has wrapped‍ up the event. He said he’s looking forward to seeing more of these on the roads and ‌to have the future “finally look like the future.” This entire ⁢event is a visual one–fulfilling ⁢some sort of sci-fi fantasy around what the future should look like without a satisfying explanation for how⁢ the future might actually be better or who this is ⁢supposed to ‌be for. It’s really armor against the‌ problems of now.

The Price

Musk forgot to tell ⁢everyone the price. Well,
