Williams F1: Une 'bonne série (...)

Williams F1 was the only team to take advantage of the testing day for young drivers to have two of its rookies out on the track. Zak O’Sullivan, who had already participated in the FP1 of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Friday, was able to get back on the track and behind the wheel for an additional half day.

“The day was enjoyable. Of course, for me, it was a good thing to have the reference of FP1, so I had some points to work from there,” said O’Sullivan. “From the first attack lap, I was able to find my pace from the beginning of the weekend.”

“It was good to do some representative testing in fairly relevant daytime conditions, which was nice. We had a good series of performance and race runs.”

“I had more freedom to experiment with things and push a bit harder than in FP1. Thanks again to Williams Racing for giving me the opportunity to drive the FW45 this weekend and for allowing me to gain valuable experience.”

Franco Colapinto was behind the wheel this morning, and the Argentine also managed to complete a full program with the Grove team: “It’s incredible to taste a Formula 1 car for the first time and to do it with Williams Racing.”

“It’s hard to put into words all the emotions, feelings, and beliefs that I felt today. Since I was little, I have dreamed of the moment when I will one day get into a Formula 1 car. Being able to drive the FW45 was an extraordinary experience.”

“It’s a great way to end my first year within the Williams Racing Driver Academy. I tried to make the most of every lap and learn as much as possible. I am very grateful to the entire Williams Racing team for giving me this opportunity and the support they have provided me.”

A day with four drivers on track

Dave Robson, performance director, details the team’s program on the last day of the 2023 Formula 1 season. In addition to O’Sullivan and Colapinto, Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant were also on track in a second FW45 that they shared.

“Today was the last day of testing in 2023 and we completed our programs as planned. Both cars completed 222 laps between them, with Alex and Logan sharing the day with one car and Franco and Zak driving the ‘Young Driver’ car,” said Robson.

“Franco was very good this morning, covering over 300 km without any issues and at a good pace. He tried several Pirelli compounds and provided valuable feedback and interesting comments on the FW45.”

“Zak quickly adapted after running in FP1. He quickly got used to the improved track conditions and was able to find a good pace with both low and high fuel.” » …
