Get ready, U.S. senators! An important and classified briefing on Ukraine, Israel, and the national security supplemental funding package requested by President Joe Biden is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 5. This was the word from Senate aides on Thursday.

The briefing will feature some heavy hitters, including Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General C.Q. Brown, and U.S. Agency for International Development Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman.

President Biden has urgently called on Congress to approve $106 billion in national security funding, which includes crucial aid for Ukraine, support for Israel in the wake of attacks by Hamas, and additional security measures at the U.S. border with Mexico.

With the funding still pending approval, there’s growing concern that the aid for Ukraine, in particular, may not get the green light, especially after the Republican-led House passed a bill including assistance for Israel, but not for Ukraine.
