What a stroke of luck! Two people are recovering after a car accident in rainy California. According to NBC Bay Area, the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) came to the rescue after their car flipped and slipped down an embankment.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (Dec. 27) and a 911 call was made at 2:45 p.m. local time. A hiker near the scene – Glen Canyon Park – reported seeing the navy blue sedan sliding down the hill. Firefighters later determined that the car had skidded over 100 feet down the embankment.

To save the driver and passenger, fire officials had to organize and execute a technical rescue. They had to clear thick brush, make their way to the damaged car, and use ropes in the rescue effort.

Police closed one lane of O’Shaughnessy Boulevard to carry out the rescue operation.

Police are still investigating the car crash on the embankment. According to the local fire department, the driver reportedly hit the curb, causing the car to roll once and slide down the steep hill.

Luckily, the driver and passenger only sustained minor injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The identities of the injured have not been released by fire officials.

PEOPLE reports that rainy conditions in the area contributed to the embankment car accident. The National Weather Service reported rain in the Bay Area between early Wednesday before the crash and finally tapering off early Thursday. Another storm is expected on Friday (Dec. 29).

The San Francisco PD is still investigating the case.
