Here at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), our mission is to protect the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death associated with the use of various consumer products. Each year, incidents related to consumer products cost the nation more than $1 trillion in deaths, injuries, and property damage. Thanks to our efforts, we have seen a decrease in the rate of injuries associated with consumer products over the past 50 years.
It’s important to note that federal law prohibits the sale of products subject to a Commission-ordered recall or a voluntary recall conducted in consultation with the CPSC.
