Controversy in the Octagon: Dana White Slams Turner vs. Green Stoppage at UFC on ESPN 52

Date: December 2, 2023

Location: Austin, Texas

Dana White, the UFC CEO, revealed that referee Kerry Hatley deeply regrets his “really bad” blockage in the Jalin Turner vs. Bobby Green fight at UFC on ESPN 52.

The MMA community was angered after Hatley allowed Green to sustain a prolonged string of additional shots after being knocked down by Turner in the opening round of the lightweight co-headliner at Moody.

White acknowledged the frustration and expressed that Hatley, unlike other referees in the past, showed remorse for his inaction post-fight.

According to White, “It was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. The difference is we’ve had some refs say some dumb sh*t in the past, like, ‘I allowed her to be a warrior tonight,’ and silly sh*t like that. He knows he made a mistake tonight and doesn’t feel good about it, so it’s unfortunate.”

Although Green managed to leave the octagon under his power, he was visibly rattled from the force of the knockout and additional shots. The ending of the bout was not considered rightful, and White agreed, stating, “Definitely a bad interruption. Very bad.”
