Get ready for a shakeup at the first UFC card of 2024! The event on Jan. 13 is in for some major changes.
UFC Vegas 84, happening at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, will be headlined by a thrilling light heavyweight rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Johnny Walker in a five-round fight. But that’s not the only excitement – several other fights have been altered or canceled ahead of the event.
Unfortunately, Bantamweight contender Ketlen Vieira won’t be facing Macy Chiasson anymore due to undisclosed reasons, resulting in the cancelation of their fight.
The same fate hit another bantamweight fight, with Yana Santos dropping out of her matchup against Norma Dumont, which has also been scrapped from the card.
Bassil Hafez’s sophomore appearance in the UFC will have to wait, as he’s been forced out of his upcoming fight in January. But fear not, Matthew Semelsberger will step in as a replacement for Hafez and will now face Preston Parsons on the card.
Don’t worry – Contender Series veteran Jean Silva will still be in action, now facing Westin Wilson on the card after a lineup change.
And that’s not all – Joshua Van is making his return to action against Felipe Bunes after visa issues prevented Denys Bondar from traveling to the United States.
Despite the changes, there are still 11 bouts scheduled to take place on Jan. 13. Catch the event live on ESPN+ with the prelims starting at 4 p.m. ET and the main card kicking off at 7 p.m. ET. The full bout order is still to be determined.
