See for yourself the breathtaking beauty of the Mount Hood stratovolcano, just a 2-hour drive east of Portland, Oregon. Its snow-topped pyramid rises high above the clouds, adorned with fir trees and ski pistes that crisscross the forest like spiderwebs. The area boasts several incredible ski locations: Timberline, Mount Hood Skibowl, Mount Hood Meadows, Summit Ski Area, and Cooper Spur. The perfect destination for winter sports enthusiasts.

Like Mount Hood, North America offers a diverse range of skiing locations, some in unexpected places. From skiing above the Arizona desert to taking on chutes in Nevada before hitting the slots in Las Vegas. With over 80 ski resorts each in British Columbia and Quebec, as well as California and Colorado, the opportunities are endless. From upscale resorts like Aspen Snowmass to the raw beauty of Mount Washington on Vancouver Island, there’s something for everyone.

Despite the minority of Brits flying across the Atlantic for this experience, North America is becoming an increasingly popular winter sports destination. Resorts are expanding, lift networks are growing, and new activities are being introduced. Heavy snowfall in various locations is also attracting skiers, with records broken in Mammoth Lakes, California, and many other ski towns in Utah.

Where to start? Montana’s Big Sky, one of the largest ski resorts in the United States, boasts America’s fastest six-person chairlift. The resort’s newly refurbished Lone Peak Tram provides access to the six-mile-long run from Liberty Bowl to Mountain Mall. In California’s Palisades Tahoe, a base-to-base gondola now connects the area’s two mountains for the first time, offering visitors an entirely new experience.

Exciting developments are also taking place in Colorado, with Steamboat undergoing a $200 million modernization project. The resort’s expansion will include the longest ten-person gondola in North America. Aspen Mountain is also increasing its skiable acreage by more than 20% for the coming season.
