Beloved Actor David McKnight Passes Away at 87 after Starring in ‘J.D.’s Revenge’ and Robert Townsend Films

We all were saddened to hear the news that David McKnight passed away at the age of 87 in Las Vegas, after a battle with cancer. He was known for his roles in cult films such as J.D.’s Revenge and Hollywood Shuffle. McKnight also appeared in various television shows throughout his career including Kojak, Hill Street Blues, The Incredible Hulk, Dynasty, Moonlighting and L.A. Law.

In J.D.’s Revenge, McKnight played a departed hustler who takes control of the body of an university student (Glynn Turman) and pursues the man who killed him and his sister 30 years prior. His contributions as a standout African American thespian were unrecognized throughout his career, like many during his era. Rest in peace, David McKnight.
