In total, there are 8 contracts valued at over $160 million, with 5 customers already sharing details about their payloads and 3 more set to reveal their payloads closer to the launch date.
Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) will be transporting FLEX to the Moon’s surface as part of Mission 1, utilizing the Starship launch and landing system. Once there, FLEX will deploy the payloads for each of the clients, as efficiently as possible.
CEO and Founder of Astrolab, Jaret Matthews, expressed his excitement, stating, “Our entire team is thrilled to welcome these companies to Mission 1. Together, they represent a cross-section of the emerging lunar economy.”
With a total payload capability of 1,500 KG, the FLEX rover offers significant cost reductions and superior capabilities compared to its competitors, making it an attractive choice for lunar exploration missions.
The announcement introduces several of the Astrolab clients involved with the mission, including Argo Space Corp, Astroport Space Technologies, and Avalon Space. Each company has its distinct mission and goals, contributing to the advancement of lunar exploration and habitation.
