Are you tired of sharing a single Spotify account with friends and family? Get ready for an in-depth look at how to add more users to your account.
The different types of accounts Spotify offers
While Spotify offers a free account, many consider it limited and may want to upgrade to add more users. The main paid accounts include:
- Premium: $11 (₤ 11 or AU$ 12) per month for a single user
- Duo: $15 (₤ 15 or AU$ 18) per month for two users (one primary user)
- Family: $17 (₤ 18 or AU$ 21) per month for up to 6 people (one primary and 5 family members)
Note that no matter which plan you choose, all users become Premium members with the same benefits. The exception is that only the primary member receives access to 15 free hours of audiobooks each month.
These are strictly “home” plans and not “friends and family” plans, as all users need to be registered at the same address. If you’re currently on a Student plan that includes Hulu, you won’t be eligible for a Family plan, nor will the grandfathered Spotify with Hulu plan. You’ll need to cancel these plans to start the multiuser plans.
Spotify Wrapped is one of the main reasons you might want to add specific users to your account.
