Welcome to Delicious or Distressing, the ultimate source for ranking food memes, videos, and other home entertainment news. Recently, we discussed a shocking story of a woman discovering a sliced finger in her Chopt salad.
An ongoing Roman Empire of mine– and trust me, there are many — is the story of a $42 piece of Erewhon blueberry pie. Erewhon, the popular Los Angeles grocery store chain, known for attracting influencers and health enthusiasts, has become a luxury brand in its own right, evident by its exorbitant prices. In fact, they have even collaborated with fellow luxury brand Balenciaga to produce a line of merchandise, including a $725 T-shirt and a dark charcoal-infused drink.
This week, Bradley Cooper served Philly cheesesteaks out of a food truck to a crowd of New Yorkers, including reported girlfriend Gigi Hadid and ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk. A woman who threw a burrito bowl at a Chipotle employee was sentenced to work in fast food as penance. White Claw has even ventured into making regular seltzer. Is commercialism taking a step back? (No: See $42 blueberry pie.)

Last November, Balenciaga sparked outrage with an ad campaign featuring kids holding bondage-clad teddy bears. Now, seeking redemption, the fashion giant has hinted at a collaboration with Erewhon, the luxury market in LA known for its celebrity-endorsed juice bar. The $725 Balenciaga x Erewhon Tee weirdly makes sense: Food and beverage have become just as much a status symbol as luxury fashion.
For a less expensive taste of the collaboration, you can try a $14 bottle of what looks like hazardous sludge and reeks of desperate cultural relevance. The Balenciaga superfood smoothie is an Instagrammable mixture of apple, lemon, ginger, cinnamon, natural maple syrup, and, of course, charcoal. If you’re in LA, give it a try and let me know what you think? I’m giving this grocercore discovery a solid 3.5/5 on the distressing scale. – Ali Francis, staff writer
Bradley Cooper served Philly cheesesteaks out of a truck in New York
Bradley Cooper, Philadelphia’s very own Ben Affleck, served up Philly cheesesteaks out of a food truck in New York. This was a delightful event by many standards, as celebrity-LARPing-as-service-worker has become quite the trend of 2023. Unlike other celebrity stunts, Bradley’s cheesesteak venture feels more genuine and true to his Philly roots. Indeed, this was a truly entertaining sight to behold.
