A shocking incident has emerged, causing widespread outrage. An Alabama police officer, who happens to be a white female, has been placed on leave for chuckling while using a stun gun on a crying handcuffed Black man. The upsetting video, which went viral, captures the disturbing actions of the officer.
In the clip, the unidentified police officer from the Reform Police Department in Pickens County was recorded Saturday using abusive language towards the distraught man, who District Attorney Andy Hamlin confirms was arrested on a trafficking fentanyl charge.
The video shows her screaming at the cuffed man to lie on the front of the car with his face down and ordering him to “remain still.” Shockingly, when the man informs her of a weapon in his pocket, she pulls the weapon out and deploys the stun gun into his back.
Following the incident, reform cops Chief Richard Black and Mayor Melody Davis issued a joint statement, acknowledging the video and ensuring cooperation in the investigation. They also revealed that the involved officer has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation is carried out in line with City Policy.
The disturbing footage has sparked an outcry online, with many condemning the officer’s actions as an “abuse of power” and demanding her arrest. The identity of the man arrested on the drug-related charge has not been disclosed.
