UFC CEO Dana White was blown away by Arman Tsarukyan’s knockout victory at UFC Austin, which he feels has shaken up the lightweight title picture.

Tsarukyan (21-3 MMA) faced off against seasoned 155lbs competitor Beneil Dariush (22-6-1 MMA) in the main event of last night’s Fight Night event in Texas.
The result was a 64-second knockout victory for ‘Akhalkalakets’, who put Dariush to sleep with a stunning knee to punch combination.

The highlight reel finish marked Tsarukyan’s 3rd win in a row, as he had previously defeated Joaquim Silva by TKO and Damir Ismagulov by decision. The Armenian standout has now gone 8-1 since dropping a decision to Islam Makhachev in 2019.
Given his remarkable performance last night, UFC CEO Dana White admits that Tsarukyan has thrown a wrench into the lightweight title picture.
“It does [throw a wrench into things]I mean, you definitely have to look at how he looked tonight. And I don’t know, we’ll see what happens,” White told the media during the UFC Austin post-fight interview (h/t MMAMania.
Dana White went on to state that he thinks a rematch between Arman Tsarukyan and Islam Makhachev would do substantial numbers, especially in the Middle East.
[The fight will be] Big. Yeah, it’s a great stylistic match. That’s a great fight.”
White had previously stated that the UFC would be scheduling a rematch between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev next. It seems Tsarukyan’s latest win has the promotion rethinking their options.
Arman has gone 8-2 over his 10 career Octagon appearances, with his only 2 losses coming by way of decision. Those setbacks came against Mateusz Gamrot and Islam Makhachev respectively.
