SEATTLE– The Atlanta Braves just made some major moves by acquiring outfielder Jarred Kelenic, pitcher Marco Gonzales and infielder Evan White from the Seattle Mariners. Emotions are running high as the team says goodbye to right-handed pitchers Cole Phillips and Jackson Kowar.
Adding Kelenic, who at one time was among baseball’s leading young prospects, the Braves have certainly upped their game! Not to mention they’ve also scored a veteran lefty in Gonzales–such a great addition to their pitching team.
But these changes are bittersweet, as Seattle gives up Kelenic against their own desires. It’s all part of the game, we suppose. Not only that, but they’re also parting with some cash as part of the trade–no big deal.
There’s a lot to consider with these players. Gonzales is owed $12 million for the 2024 season, while White has $17 million in guaranteed cash remaining on his contract. It’s a lot of money and a lot of talent in play!
“Our company believe the additions of Jackson Kowar and Cole Phillips, along with the lineup and payroll versatility developed this evening, will move us closer to that objective,” said Seattle President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto in a declaration. Sounds like this trade could bring some much-needed change to the team!
Kelenic is arguably the biggest piece going to Atlanta in the deal–some say he was even the valued prospect of the New York Mets company. This kid is definitely one to watch, and the Braves are lucky to have him on their team.
Gonzales, too, was a celebrated member of Seattle’s squad but has had his struggles over the past two seasons. We’re eager to see him back in top form soon!
Overall, it looks like both teams will benefit from this trade. People are buzzing with excitement to see what these fantastic athletes will bring to their new teams. It’s definitely a game-changer!
