The House is abuzz with news that Speaker Mike Johnson is gearing up for an official vote on the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, and he’s calling it a “necessary step.”
During an interview on Fox News, Johnson expressed frustration with the White House, stating, “We’re being stonewalled by the White House, due to the fact that they’re avoiding a minimum of 2 to 3 DOJ witnesses from stepping forward, a previous White House counsel, the nationwide archives … the White House has actually kept countless pages of proof.”
“I believe it’s something we need to do at this point,” Johnson added.
This development comes after several Republicans anticipated Friday that a vote to formalize the impeachment inquiry would come before your home breaks for December recess.
In response, the Biden administration has pushed back, arguing that the impeachment inquiry is invalid because it has not yet been formalized by a House vote. However, a vote is not technically required but has been used in the past to legitimize the process.
