Mike Johnson’s Explosive Revelation Shakes Up the GOP’s Biden Impeachment Inquiry

Mike Johnson just inadvertently revealed how flimsy the Republican impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden truly is by failing to defend one of the key accusations against the president on its merits.

Johnson joined Representatives Jim Jordan and James Comer at a Tuesday press conference to discuss the ongoing impeachment inquiry. Despite levying various accusations against Biden, Republicans have not been able to provide any concrete evidence that supports their claims of political corruption.

They have particularly focused on the allegation that Biden, while serving as vice president, threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine unless a prosecutor investigating the company his son worked for was fired. However, this claim has been debunked by U.S. intelligence, former Ukrainian President, and the owner of the company.

During the press conference, a HuffPost reporter asked Johnson why the GOP continues to push the narrative surrounding the Ukrainian prosecutor. The reporter pointed out the testimonies of State Department officials during Trump’s first impeachment trial, which contradicted the Republican claims.

U.S. foreign aid is often given with specific conditions, and the withholding of aid to Ukraine was tied to combating corruption in their government.

However, when confronted with this information, Johnson evaded the question and shifted the focus to foreign payments the Bidens allegedly received.

Johnson also refused to answer questions about this testimony, despite its clear relevance to the current impeachment inquiry.

Shokin was fired for corruption in 2016, and the conspiracy theory surrounding his dismissal and Biden’s involvement has been debunked multiple times.

Speaker Mike Johnson is now facing a significant challenge as the leader of the Republican caucus. Read More
