Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce is making a strong case for the team’s full-time gig. His impressive resume is only getting better especially after a 20-14 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day, the defending Super Bowl champions.
Pierce’s comments to reporters clearly show his ambition for the job.
“I’m going to keep saying it: As long as it looks right, sounds right and smells right, I’m fine with it. Win, lose or draw,” Pierce said Tuesday.
The Raiders are a much different team under Pierce. They’ve fought hard under their new leader, who could still lead Las Vegas to a winning record with victories in the last two games (at the Indianapolis Colts, home versus the Denver Broncos).
However, a playoff berth is still a possibility, although the Raiders would need a lot of help for that to happen with four 8-7 teams tied for the last AFC wild card berth ahead of them in the standings.
Still, there’s no doubt Pierce is deserving of the job. Whether owner Mark Davis rolls with Pierce remains to be seen,
