But Home Alone’s appeal goes beyond its iconic moments. John Hughes’ instant classic, about an elementary school kid teaching two largely incompetent career criminals a lesson, remains at the top of holiday movie watcher’s wish lists.

The 1990 box office sensation continues to be a holiday tradition for many because of its timeless humor and laugh-out-loud moments. Catherine O’Hara is also amazed by the enduring popularity of the movie, which is now considered a treasured part of the Christmas movie canon.
