Neil Magny did not hold back in reacting to Ian Machado Garry’s withdrawal from this weekend’s UFC 296 fight card.
The UFC welterweight veteran, who suffered a clear defeat to the Irishman back in August, admitted fault in his previous comments that sparked controversy and dominated the lead-up to their fight.
Garry’s removal from the card due to illness prompted Magny to reflect on the impact of their rivalry, expressing regret for the personal turmoil it caused and taking accountability for his words.
“I definitely made statements that he was able to spin and play out in a different way than what I intended,” Magny said. “I have to own that fact and live with it, so to speak.”
