Points Change Made for 2024 AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross-- Now Identical

Big news for the 2024 AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross seasons! As Davey Coombs explained in Racerhead # 48 this night, there is an update to the points structure that remains in location for 2024. This update will bring both Monster Energy AMA Supercross and the AMA Pro Motocross Championship with the exact same points structure starting in 2024, creating less confusion and more unity between the two series.

The move comes after last year’s 26-point system and will now once again award 25 points for a supercross centerpiece win, which is also a match for the points awarded for a specific moto win in Pro Motocross.

Coombs explained, “One of the important things that’s silently altered throughout the off-season is the points structure for both AMA SX and MX. A couple of years ago AMA Supercross went away from the conventional points structure of paying for areas initially through 20th the method it was being done. Instead, they attempted a system that paid all the way to 22nd, because that’s the number of riders received a centerpiece.”
